When Is Spring Break in Cabo?

When you think of a spring break location, you probably think of somewhere hot and sunny, with beaches. Plenty of places fit the bill, but Cabo San Lucas is one of the hottest spring break destinations, and for a good reason.

This gorgeous Baja town is surrounded by incredible beaches that are perfect if you want to splash in the sea and get a great tan. There are also a lot of fun activities to be experienced, with Cabo offering everything you could want from a spring break vacation spot. Warm weather, beautiful beaches, friendly locals, and lots of excitement.

Why Celebrate Spring Break in Cabo?

Most colleges offer a week-long break in mid-spring, allowing students to relax before diving into the final part of the school year. It’s a time when students let loose before they get serious about studying. Cabo San Lucas is close enough that most people will arrive after a short flight. Upon arrival, they experience the warmth of the sun and many enjoyable beaches. However, the real fun starts when you look beyond just swimming and sunbathing.

Water access is around every bend, making Cabo home to plenty of sea life, which you can experience with local tours. There are shark tours where you’ll visit popular shark habitats to see these fascinating creatures up close and personal. You can also take a glass bottom boat to Lover’s Beach to check out all the brightly colored fish that swim beneath the waves. And, if you want to get closer, snorkeling or scuba diving opportunities are available.

There are many options for students who want to stay active in Cabo. Kayaking and paddleboarding are always popular and allow you to check out El Arco. Surfing is also a great pastime in Cabo; surfing lessons are available if you’re eager to learn. Otherwise, bring your board and head to the beach to hit the waves.

Spring breakers will also love the Tarzan Boat Tour, which takes you to a beautiful place near Medano Beach. You’ll explore the Tarzan boat’s fun platforms and enjoy the waterslide, trampolines, and even a swing that lets you take a flying leap into the ocean. Alternatively, jump on a banana tube with friends for a fun, unique Sea of Cortez tour.

Not everything in Cabo is about the water, though. You’ll also find plenty to do if you want to stay dry and on land. For example, dune buggies are a lot of fun, or you may want to take an ATV desert tour. The area also has many hiking trails, so if you want to get off the beaten path and enjoy learning more about the Cabo area, this is a good option. You can take a hiking tour with a knowledgeable guide if you don’t want to head out alone.

For adrenaline junkies, skydiving is always an option, and you can do a tandem jump if you’re not certified. There’s nothing like seeing the Baja from 10,000 feet up and then leaping out of a plane to experience the ultimate adrenaline rush. For a similar view with less adrenaline, glider tours are also available.

Another fun activity is ziplining. There are multiple options, including the Cabo San Lucas Zip Line, the longest and fastest in Cabo. It’s also the highest, so get ready for some amazing views. And, if you want to have some stories to take home, why not jump on a camel? This desert safari is the last thing people expect when they visit Cabo, but it’s a great way to learn about the area.

Of course, you should plan to spend at least one day on the beach. Lover’s Beach is a nice secluded option, but Santa Maria is more developed. Choose where you prefer and schedule in some suntanning time.

There’s no one set week or two when spring break occurs. That’s because every school has its own schedule. They decide when to let students off, which may be staggered so that not everyone is celebrating their holiday simultaneously.

The most common spring break dates are February 25 – March 4, March 4 – 11, March 11 – 18, March 18 – 25, and April 1 – 8. Some schools do have their break earlier or later. You can safely assume that February 25 to April 8 will be the top spring break time in Cabo San Lucas.

If you’re trying to avoid spring breakers, you’ll want to aim for mid-late April or any time after that for your vacation. However, if you’re planning your spring break adventures, you’ll be pleased to know that there are plenty of other people to meet and hang out with while you’re in Cabo.

Planning your best spring break ever? Pure Cabo can help you with all the arrangements to ensure you have a great time in Mexico. And to ensure you have the easiest trip possible, always remember to check out the transportation options before booking your flights.
